We are committed to working with and providing reasonable adjustment to individuals with disabilities.
We trust individuals to self-identify and ask for the support they need. If you have any questions or concerns regarding accessibility, please contact us via hiring@thehumaneleague.org.uk and we will be happy to discuss any reasonable adjustments that may be beneficial to you.
Any reasonable adjustments that are discussed or requested remain confidential within our Operations team and are not shared with the hiring lead, who would be assessing the applications.

We host a recruitment webinar for every active vacancy which we highly recommend interested candidates attend. The webinars are usually hosted by the manager of the position and one other team member and give the opportunity to ask any questions you have about the role, the team, the organisation or anything else that may help you decide if it is the right position for you. The webinar is recorded and available to watch on-demand after the event.
If the webinar has passed and you still need more information to help you decide whether or not to apply you can email us at hiring@thehumaneleague.org.uk

We don't expect candidates to have had experience with all of the criteria set out in the job specifications. Research suggests that more men tend to apply for jobs when they meet only some of the criteria, while women and other marginalised groups are less likely to apply if they are not a 100% match.
If you are passionate about THL UK’s mission and think you have what it takes to be successful in the role, please apply even if you don't check all the boxes. We'd appreciate the opportunity to consider your application.

We believe our salaries are fair and equitable. We have developed a transparent pay structure that we think delivers competitive salaries in the market and aims to eliminate potential biases in compensation (such as the gender pay gap).
We have a no negotiation policy on salaries to avoid higher salaries being given to individuals simply because they have the confidence to ask, versus those who may not feel comfortable to or those who may not be in a position to do so. You can read more about how we decide our salaries here.

We are not able to divulge too much about the test but we can share that the tasks involved will always be the kind of assignments that the person in the role would regularly need to undertake.
The tasks will assess some or all of the key competencies that are laid out in the job description. You will receive some further information if you are invited to this stage and full details will be provided when you receive your test.

All team members have an annual Learning and Development budget as well as plenty of department and whole team learning opportunities throughout the year.

As an organisation, we encourage individuals to leave animals off their plates. While a lot of our supporters and staff choose to be vegan, this is not a requirement for being a part of THL UK. We recognise that, for the foreseeable future, the consumption of animal products will remain a societal norm.
Therefore, anyone who supports our strategic approach to dismantling the system that fuels animal abuse is welcome here, regardless of their diet choices.
Any food paid for by THL UK (e.g. food at THL UK events, or subsistence for staff and volunteers) has to be vegan in accordance with our organisational policies.
